Jun 02, 2009Did you know…about USCC?

USCC 2009 in San Jose

Did you know the USCC 2009 Conference is right around the corner?

This annual event is geared for Rotaractors in the United States, Canada, and Caribbean, and is a great opportunity for Rotaractors this summer.

When finances are tight, it can be hard to make it to the bigger Rotaract conferences like the Preconvention in Birmingham, England. But, just because you’re not going to Brum this summer doesn’t mean you can’t still have an awesome Rotaract experience! And that’s where USCC 2009 comes in!

Why attend USCC 2009?

  • Attending a Rotaract conference like USCC is truly one of the best things you can do for yourself and your club. I have personally attended 3 previous USCC conferences, and I have never been disappointed. USCC was the first “big” Rotaract event I had ever attended outside of my district, and it changed my life. I had more “aha” moments than I can recount! I learned what other successful clubs were doing, and I was able to take those ideas for recruitment and projects back to my own club. I also got the chance to share some of the great things my own club was doing with others. I also met people that I am still friends with today, and I learned things about Rotaract beyond the club that I had no club about before!
  • Meet Rotaractors from around the world! There are currently registrants from all over the USA, as well as from Canada and the Caribbean, as well as from other places such as Australia, Croatia, Pakistan, and Switzerland.
  • Attendees will hear from great speakers such Chris Finn, head coach of the United States Power Soccer Association (electric wheelchair soccer) who has a very inspirational message; John Barrett, Rotarian and Director of the Cambodia Rotary School; Ian Shea, former Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar, and founder of the internet startup www.maestromarket.com, who will be sharing the impact Rotary has had on him in his journey; and the Green Initiatives Panel featuring Silicon Valley green-tech execs who will share developments in that area and provide some practical ideas to take home.
  • Workshops will include topics such as starting new clubs, growing a Rotaract district, PR and Marketing. We’ll also be taking about the latest information from ACCT!
  • Friday evening will be the social gala at the San Jose Tech Museum – an exciting and educational venue in the heart of Silicon Valley!
  • And of course in the evening there will be lots of fun and fellowship enjoying the nightlife of downtown San Jose!
  • USCC 2009 will be July 16th-19th, 2009.

    Register now at: www.uscc2009.org

Registration includes admission to evening social events as well as most meals. I think its a great bargain! And, you might just be able to find a really good deal on airfare! Check with your sponsoring Rotary club and Rotary district to see if they are willing to help with costs. If you’re a part of a university-based club, your school may provide funds for travel for student groups.

    Registration with shared housing: $285
    Registration with individual housing: $330
    Registration without housing: $120

Even though I’m bummed I can’t make it to Birmingham this year, my husband and I are super excited to be going to USCC. I would love you see you there!
